Three pillars of extraordinary leadership in a modern world

Recent changes have altered the way we work, forever. And when the world of work changes, so do the demands on leadership.

We have trawled popular literature, listened closely to our corporate clients, and have taken testimony from our world-class business and leadership coaches, to identify what makes an extraordinary leader by today’s standards.

We have created a white paper as a one-stop guide for leaders operating in this world and the L&D teams who support their development, to build awareness of the context they are leading in, and to understand the skills that would be most valuable for them to develop.

The three pillars of extraordinary leadership

We wanted to make it as easy as possible for readers to apply this expert advice to their own leadership manifestos – so, we have followed one of today’s most popular leadership framework structures: leading self, leading others and leading business.

  1. Evolve new mindsets – leading self. In this section, we delve into what a growth mindset actually means, how it impacts leadership and give advice on the practical first steps that leaders can take to start evolving their mindset in a positive direction.
  2. Lead human first – leading others. We explain what it means to be a human leader, how emotional intelligence plays into this and the importance of creating cultures of belonging. And when you learn that 51% of people who left their job in 2021 did so in search of belonging and connection, it’s easy to see why human leadership is a critical skill.
  3. Practise agility – leading business. The World Economic Forum has identified resilience, flexibility and agility among the top three most important skills needed for workers and leaders this year. In a section wholly focused on agility, we look at the five considerations for any organisation looking to undergo an agility transformation.

And, we give a modern leader’s guide to instigating positive change, which is especially crucial in light of the increasing focus on ESG. Download your copy below.
